The Brandon Oaks Nursing nd Rehalbilitation Center (BONRC) "Five Star Bazaar" on October 6 added $5,500 to Auxiliary funds for purchase of nonbudgetary items for the NRC.  According to Jackie Carmack, Brandon Oaks resident and one of the bazaar's organizers, this is about $1,000 over the 2011 bazaar profits.  Positive comments were made to organizers and workers about sale items, displays and overall "upscale" presentation of the bazaar.

Carmack said this bazaar is the first time there has been so many male helpers, both residents and neighbors, during Friday setup and Saturday sales.  Long-term workers included Skip Zubrod, Sidney Miller Floyd Firing and Bill Nelson; newcomers were Gooch Rosebro, Allen Thompson, Chuck Miller and Fred Phillips.

Women workers, also gathered from residents and neighbors, included Bazaar Chariman Joyce Firing, Auxiliary President Wanda Miller, Edwina Keith, Edna Miller, Phyllis Coffey, Mary Dress, Ferrel Phillips, Betty Miller, Betsy jenkins, Betty Glass, Winnie Bloom, Doreen Fishwick, Dora Robbins, Jan Herring, Shirley Dyer, Mo Nelson, Betty Burrows, Karen Zubrod, Rita O'Brien, Gail Godsey, Jeanne Donnelly, Lois Osterman, Jane Renick, Bo Morton, and Janet Whitacker.

Leftovers were donated to the Roanoke Rescue Mission on 4th Street.  According to Carmack, it took two men from the Rescue Mission a hour to load their truck.
